Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

Short version: Redactor is free to use. It is provided as-is, with no guarantees. You are responsible for verifying that your redacted files meet your requirements before sharing them.

Acceptance

By using Redactor, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the tool.

What Redactor does

Redactor is a browser-based tool that permanently removes content from PDF files. Redaction runs locally on your device, so your files are never uploaded to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Your responsibilities

Verify your redactions. Redactor removes content from the file itself, not just the visible layer. Always open your redacted output and confirm the intended content is no longer visible or selectable before sharing it for sensitive purposes.

Own the documents you redact. Do not use Redactor to alter documents you do not own or are not authorised to modify.

Use the tool lawfully. Do not use Redactor for any purpose that is illegal or harmful.

No warranty

Redactor is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees that the tool will be error-free, that redacted files will meet any specific legal or regulatory standard, or that the tool will be available at all times.

Redaction requirements vary by jurisdiction and use case. If you are preparing documents for legal proceedings, regulatory submissions, or other high-stakes purposes, you should have your process reviewed by a qualified professional.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Redactor and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the tool or reliance on redacted documents produced by it.

Open-source components

Redactor runs entirely in your browser using open-source libraries.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Redactor after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
